Quality & Safety Standards We Look For

At Home Furniture & Carpet, we select products from manufacturers and suppliers that meet recognized industry quality and safety standards. Here is what those standards mean for you.

Certifications & Standards Overview

When evaluating the furniture we carry, we look for products from manufacturers that adhere to the following industry standards and certifications:

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifies that wood used in furniture frames comes from forests managed responsibly for biodiversity, worker welfare, and environmental sustainability. FSC-certified wood tracks materials from the forest to the factory, ensuring ethical sourcing practices.

When applicable, we look for FSC-certified wood frames in our product selection.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials and finished products. Fabrics tested to this standard are verified to be free from harmful substances including formaldehyde, heavy metals, and certain dyes that may be harmful to health.

OEKO-TEX certified fabrics undergo regular retesting to maintain certification status.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized standard for quality management systems. Manufacturers certified to ISO 9001 have documented processes for quality control, defect tracking, and continuous improvement — leading to more consistent product quality.

US Consumer Product Safety

All products sold by Home Furniture & Carpet comply with applicable US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements, including flammability standards for upholstered furniture where applicable.
